Free Float Events & Index Forecasting
AI-powered pipelines transform SEC filings into historical free float events and audit-ready datasets. Every change is fully traceable to its source filing, providing the historical free float, shares outstanding and security master data needed to model and predict potential index rebalances.
Core datasets
A coherent view of free float, built from many linked datasets
Free float is only reliable when shares outstanding, insider ownership, and reference data agree. datawiser keeps these in sync from the source, with more datasets coming on the same underlying platform.
Free Float Events
Event-level records of excluded shares and free float factor over time. Every event links back to beneficial owners, cross-holdings, trusts, RSUs, and the underlying SEC filings.
- Owner-level events from DEF 14A & Forms 3/4/5
- Cross-held and restricted shares marked as excluded
- Free float factor and excluded shares before & after each event
Shares Outstanding
Filing-aligned time series of shares outstanding by class, with share type and filing timestamps to support index maintenance and reconciliation.
- Quarterly and annual shares outstanding by class
- Share type (outstanding, treasury, and more)
- Filing date, as-of date, and processing timestamps for each point
Reference Data
Security and company master built from filings and open IDs: tickers, FIGIs, LEIs, listing venue, class information, and basic company profile.
- FIGI, LEI, ticker, MIC, and ticker-country
- Class information (A/C, voting vs. non-voting)
- Company name, address, and basic contact details
Why free float events matter
Index eligibility, shorting capacity, and risk constraints are driven by free float. Most vendors give you a single percentage; we expose the event chain behind that number: insider sales, vesting RSUs, new grants, and cross-held vehicles such as LPs, ESOPs, and foundations.
Each datawiser event ties together ownership changes, excluded shares, and the free float factor at that point in time-so you can replay the capital structure and understand exactly when and why float moved.
How we derive free float events from filings, ownership changes, and cross-holdings.

Public data only
We build on SEC and European regulatory filings and open identifiers such as FIGI and LEI. No proprietary black boxes-just transparent, reproducible pipelines.
AI-assisted, deterministically resolved
Language models help extract structure from messy filings, but the final datasets are deterministic and auditable, with stable identifiers for companies, securities, and events.
Traceable to the source
Every event and snapshot can be traced back to filings, owners, and footnotes-making it easier to explain model behaviour and satisfy governance and oversight.
Roadmap: 2026/27
datawiser currently provides free float events, shares outstanding, and reference data. The roadmap below outlines planned extensions to the capital structure and classification stack, derived entirely from public data.
